Our beloved mother, Deborah A Brooks-Brown was born December 9, 1961, in Brooklyn NY. She transitioned gracefully on June 19, 2025, at Overlook Hospital in Summit NJ, surrounded by her family.
Deborah was the daughter of the late Eugene Brooks, and Edna J Brooks. She has four siblings Margaret Brooks- Brown, Christine Brooks, and the late Eugene (Pop) Brooks III, and Lynn Brooks-Mack. She attended New York public schools and graduated from Boys and Girls High School in 1979. After high school Deborah went on to York College to further her education.
Deborah meets her husband Terry Brown Sr in 1980, they married July 1985 and had three beautiful children Sherri Brown, Terry Brown Jr, and Kijafa Brown. Deborah and Terry moved to New Jersey where Deborah started working for the Newark Public School System in 1999 as the Lead Cook for the Cafeteria. In 2001 she switched positions to become a Paraprofessional until 2015.
Deborah retired, she became a dedicated Nana to her grandchildren Zoey (Zo Zo) Brown, Terry (Noah) Brown, Ezekiah (Ezzie) Green, and Elijah (lijah) Gordon. Her grandchildren were her heartbeat.
Deborah was a pillar to her family, friends, and community. If you needed anything she was the go-to person, the favorite Aunt, advisor, shopping queen, mother to all our friends, and some family members.
Deborah leaves to mourn: her husband Terry Brown Sr North Plainfield NJ her daughters, Sherri Brown of Plainfield NJ, Kijafa Brown North Plainfield NJ, her one and only son Terry Brown Jr Newark NJ, grandchildren: Zoey, Noah, Ezzie, and Elijah. Plus, a host of nieces, nephews, beloved family, and friends.
