Doris (Massey) Buck, age 78, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of family, and into the arms of God.
Doris was born in Lebanon, Missouri, July 7, 1946, and grew up on the Massey family dairy farm in Grovespring, with playful siblings Paul and Gail, hard-working parents Ed and Ruby, and her paternal grandparents Henry and Myrtle. Lessons from the farm were imprinted on Doris' life as she remained true to her values rooted in faith, family, resourcefulness, creativity, and rich home life.
As a child, she attended Stony Point School, a one-room schoolhouse within walking distance of the farm where her mother Ruby was the teacher. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1963.
Her ambitious nature would take her to college at SBU, then earning her degree from Southwest Missouri State University and beginning her teaching career at Rogersville High School followed by Hillcrest High School and administration at Ozark schools. Her family life in Springfield and Ozark was bustling with husband Ron Allen, two kids Dori and Deni as well as countless motorcycles and classic cars. Her eclectic country lifestyle was filled with crafting, antiques, road trips with Elk Valley neighbors, lake trips, snow skiing in Colorado, school bus driving, wallpaper hanging, apartment management and her homemade biscuits and gravy that is famous among neighbors and friends. Marriage to Byron Buck in 1996, marked a great period of her life filled with love and becoming a reliable grandparent to growing families in Kansas City, St. Louis. Vacations were spent driving to the east coast, the south and all places in between. Spontaneous road trips driving the countryside with Byron were treasured activities.
Doris was committed to her Christian faith, turning to prayer in every life challenge and regularly attending Morgan Baptist Church, Selmore Baptist, South Haven and First Baptist Church Ozark. Doris was a mainstay in the Church nurseries.
Doris' recent battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) leaves us with deep sadness for the loss of our loved one, but also the peace of knowing her steadfast walk with God has brought her to eternal life in heaven.
Doris will be forever cherished and remembered by her loving husband of 29 years Byron Buck, daughter Dori Allen Grinder, son Deni Allen, stepchildren Lesli Buck Burks and Bob Buck. As well as 13 grandchildren; Tobin and Garrin Grinder (children of Dori and Kevin Grinder) Drake and Parker Allen (children of Deni Allen) Alex Demers, Matthew Demers, Bryce (Sara) Burks, Tyler Burks and fiancée Lindsey Bishop, Taryn Burks and fiancé Brenden Smith (children of Lesli and Terry Burks) Bailey, Bentley, Brooks and Bowen Buck (children of Bob and Kathi Buck).
Memorial service for Doris will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri. Visitation will be held Saturday from 11:00 am till service time. Online condolences may be shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com.
