Douglas Blair Smith Jr., beloved father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on April 4th, 2025, at age 78. Born in Newark, NJ, he touched the lives of many with his humor, wisdom, and generosity. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving with the United States Army from 1966-1968.
His wife, Constance (Connie), predeceased him in 2021. Surviving is his ex-wife, Nancy DelRusso, with whom he had three children, Douglas Smith, 2nd, and his wife, Denise, Tara Smith-Baart, her husband, Erik, and Tracy Casiano, who passed away in 2020. He was the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren: Dougie, Peyton, Paige, Zoe, Cecelia, Sonia, Andrew, Richard, Christopher, Marissa, and Thomas. He also leaves behind a sister, Dolores Brooks. His late father, who passed away in 1974, had his ashes scattered at sea. Doug wished to have his ashes scattered in the exact location, so he carried those coordinates in his wallet. It will take place in a private family
ceremony at a later date.
Memorial donations will be greatly appreciated to the Wounded Warrior Project.
