Edward Devon Coates, lovingly known as "D-Bow," was born on October 25, 1980, in Maryland. He departed this life unexpectedly on May 30, 2025, in Charles County, leaving a profound impact on all who knew him. Devon whose warm personality and keen sense of humor made him a cherished presence in his community.
Educated within the Charles County Public Schools System, Devon was outgoing, funny, and down to earth. He had an appreciation for cleanliness and organization, often ensuring that his surroundings were tidy. He was known among his family and friends for his fashionable flair and his ability to crack jokes that brought laughter to many gatherings.
Devon had a passion for cooking and enjoyed sharing meals with loved ones. He was also a dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Washington Wizards, proudly supporting his teams with enthusiasm. In addition to his love for sports, he was an avid writer who kept a journal and enjoyed expressing himself through words. Music was a significant part of his life, with his favorite artist being Boosie, and he found joy in dancing, often letting loose on the dance floor. Above all, Devon treasured the time spent with his family and friends, making memories filled with laughter and good company.
He is survived by his children: Damare Devon Coates, Nakyja Ivory Coates, Amir Devon Coates, and Anaiah Michelle-Lynn Coates, along with his beloved grandchildren: Kenzo A. Coates, Skyy L. Coates, and Prince J. Coates. Edward's legacy also lives on through his devoted parents, Edward and Brenda Coates, as well as his siblings: William Coates, Shanta Ford, Troy Coates, Tina Coates-Price, William Proctor, Ionta Proctor, and Michelle Coates.
Edward was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Mary Ford, as well as Edward and Annie Coates, and Oden Cole.
A visitation will be held on June 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St Mary's Catholic Church, located at 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617. This will be followed by a Mass from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Edward will then be interred with a service at the same location starting at 12:15 PM and concluding at 12:30 PM.
Edward Devon Coates will be remembered fondly for his vivacious spirit, love of life, and the laughter he brought to those around him. His memory will endure in the hearts of his family and friends.
