Edward Samuel "Ed" Wilson

Edward Samuel Wilson, 56, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 27, 2025. Born on August 30, 1968, in Portsmouth, VA, Ed was the beloved son of George and Beverly Wilson.
Ed was married to the love of his life, Joanne "Jo" Wilson, for nearly 28 years. They were just days away from celebrating their anniversary on April 10. Their life together was filled with adventure, laughter, and a deep bond that only grew stronger with time.
A true family man, Ed found the greatest joy in time spent with his children and loved ones. Whether it was a simple evening at home or a big family event, he was the happiest surrounded by those he cared for. Known for coaching and mentoring, he was always there for his children. He had a passion for the outdoors – boating, hiking, and traveling were among his favorite past times. He and Jo shared countless adventures to Ireland, the Virgin Islands, Alaska, the Grand Canyon, and beyond.
Ed was also a dedicated, Certified Surgical Assistant, respected for his commitment and professionalism throughout his career. Outside of work, he enjoyed playing guitar, appreciating a good glass of wine, and soaking up the beauty of nature wherever he could.
He is survived by his parents, George and Beverly Wilson; his wife, Jo Wilson; his children; Victoria (Carson) Souther, Megan (Jeremy) Warren, and Tyler Wilson; his grandchildren: John Souther, Genevieve Warren, and Nicole Souther; his brother Richard (Kara) Wilson; his Uncle Doug Bailey; and many extended family members and close friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 6:30 PM at Altmeyer Southside Chapel, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made towards Ed's final expenses. To donate click HERE.
