Elaine Jacobs

Elaine (Moranelli) Jacobs, 83, of Latrobe, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at her home. Born Sept. 9, 1941, in Latrobe, she was the daughter of the late Francesco Moranelli and Maria (Iannuzzi) Moranelli. Elaine was a member of Holy Family Church, Latrobe. A 1959 graduate of Latrobe High School, she went on to study at the Greensburg Beauty Academy. Upon graduation, she opened Elaine's Beauty Shop at her home in Latrobe. Elaine was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan who enjoyed watching every game. She loved animals and, through the years, cherished her dogs, Bandit, Lexxi, and Becker; her granddogs, Juno and Dane; and her childhood pet lamb, Lambie, all of whom have gone before her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Pasquale F., Vincent F., and Domenick C. Moranelli; two sisters, Filomena Florence Moranelli and Rose M. Sarp; sister-in-law, Marlene Moranelli; a nephew, Vincent Moranelli Jr.; and her dear friends, Mary Anne Keener Gray and Sue Rosen. Elaine is survived by her husband of 61 years, John A. Jacobs of Latrobe; one son, Scott Jacobs of Latrobe; one daughter, Jodi Lenz and her husband, Dave, of Cranberry Township; a brother-in-law, Francis Sarp of Latrobe; nieces and nephews, Linda Epstein (Matthew), Daniel Sarp, Lisa Ulishney (Rob), Karen Sarp (Craig), Dina Novak (Ted), Thomas K. Sarp (Cindy), Kevin Sarp (Margie), and Mandi Moranelli Crocker (Kevin); great-nieces and great-nephews, Kayla, Joshua, Jacob, Jenna, Lorenzo, Marissa, Adam, Nina, and Elena; her granddog, Khaos. Elaine is also survived by her dear friends, Phyllis Milner Marks, Lydia Stumpf Herrholtz, Virginia Battaglia Riley, Mary Jo Pagnanelli Silvis, Clare Poerstel, Mary Lou Korzak Zahuranic, Barbara Marcinik, Joanne Flowers DelSordo, and Lorraine Hinger. Elaine's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the registered nurses, therapists, aides, and hospice nurses with Independence Health System for all of the kind and compassionate care they have provided. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at Holy Family Church with the Rev. E. George Saletrik as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Latrobe.
