Eleanor Day Smith, age 92, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, at Oakleaf Village.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norman E. Smith, and her son, Norman Bruce Smith. She is survived by her son, Rick Smith, and his daughters, Kayleigh (Jason), Anessa (Lou) and Cassady (Michael), as well as her great-grandchildren, Luke, Olivia, and Cameron Roberts. She is also lovingly remembered by Lori Seymour (Mark), who shared a deep bond with Eleanor through family and years of love and friendship.
Eleanor's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her 35-year career as a preschool teacher at a private school in Vienna, Virginia, where she nurtured and inspired generations of young children with patience, kindness, and love. She also had a deep love for the game of Bridge, which brought her years of enjoyment, friendship, and laughter around the card table.
A private service will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.
Day Funeral Service is honored to serve the family of Eleanor Smith.

Eleanor will be missed at the Wetstone Bridge table. I only knew her for a short time but she was a lovely lady who I enjoyed playing bridge with. I guess she is playing in another place. Sincerely James Baumann
