It is with deep sorrow and immense gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Elton Lamar Williams, a devoted servant of God, who was called home to be with his Lord on June 30th, 2025.
Elton was born on August 20th, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to Malcolm and Vergie Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Ralph Williams and wife Judy Williams.
A lifelong student of the bible, Elton was known for his love of scripture and his gift for preaching and teaching. Whether in a pulpit, a small group, a classroom, or a quiet one on one conversation, he shared the word of God with humility and insight. His understanding of scripture was shared with others through mentoring.
A gifted musician, singer, and song writer, Elton worshipped, encouraged, and brought joy to all that listened.
But Elton’s greatest legacy lies in the way he loved. He loved deeply, selflessly, and without condition. His heart was especially tender toward the homeless and those struggling in life’s hardest places. Through years of mission work and street outreach he became a beacon of hope to many. His life was a reflection of Christ’s compassion.
Elton leaves behind a legacy of faith, wisdom, music, and love. His absence is deeply felt, but we rejoice knowing he is now in the presence of the One he loved and served so faithfully.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Debbie. Sisters Betty Ann Sandoval and Kay Ellen Kline (Albert), brother Larry Williams (Judy). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, countless spiritual sons and daughters, and those touched by his ministry.
A celebration of life will be held at Cobb Funeral Chapel on Saturday July 19th, 2025 at 2:00 pm officiated by Julian Griner with visitation to follow.
