Emilio F. De La Rosa was called to his eternal rest by our Lord on February 24, 2025, surrounded by the love and support of his wife and family. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, on July 20, 1936. Emilio honorably served in the United States Army and subsequently worked as a foreman and painter, retiring at the age of sixty-nine to cherish moments with his family.
He was united in marriage to his wife, Josephine, for a remarkable sixty-four years. Emilio had a profound appreciation for conjunto music, enjoyed viewing classic Western films, and was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. His deep-rooted faith in God significantly influenced his family. He will be profoundly missed. Emilio is survived by his brother, Epifanio De La Rosa; his sisters, Elvira Camacho and Delfina Alonso; his loving wife, Josephine De La Rosa; his daughters, Diane Portillo (Carlos), Nancy Rodriguez (Ralph), Sonia Vallejo (Norbert), and Monica Esquivel (Elpidio); and his son, Emilio M. De La Rosa (Dolores). Additionally, he is remembered by his nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Epifanio and Longina De La Rosa, his brothers Pablo and Juan De La Rosa, and his son Luis M. De La Rosa. Visitation will be held at Castillo Funeral Home on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. that evening. On Monday, March 3, 2025, a formal funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Fernando Catholic Cemetery II with Military honors rendered by the United States Army.
