Francis Martin "Tres" Wright III passed away unexpectedly at his home in Forney, Texas at the young age of 63 on Sunday, May 18, 2025. He had spent the day at Scarborough Renaissance Festival having a wonderful time. He often visited the faire to appreciate the art and dress up with his friends and family.
Tres was a wonderful man of many incredible talents. Born in Houston, Texas on June 9, 1961, he grew up in the area and graduated with a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University in College Station in 1985. He worked in architecture throughout his life. He could build, fix, draw, sculpt, and many other things. Sculpting clay had become a passion of his in recent years, and several of his works include modeling monsters onto different types of Hot Wheels cars to both sell and to keep. He worked with his friend Rex Benson to learn tricks of the trade. Tres worked at RTKL and Brand Sayers Architects for many years. He joined Corgan as a Senior Project Manager in August 2024 and enjoyed working with such a large scale company.
Tres purchased some land in Ben Wheeler, Texas and worked hard to make it into a wonderful place to visit and stay. He spent many hours clearing out trees and other debris, adding decor, stocking the cabins on the land, and adding outdoor activities, like a small zipline, teepees, and hiking trails. The land will be retained by his surviving children.
Tres is survived and missed dearly by his children, Ashley Wright, Alex Atnip, and Logan Wright. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Scarlett Atnip, to whom he was affectionately known as "Grandee"; Forever remembered and cherished by his mother, Marie King, and her husband Don King; Remembered and loved by his siblings and their families: sister, Pam Lugo and her husband Roland Lugo, with their daughter Braelyn and son Paxton; brother, Terry Wright and his son Jacob and daughter Taylor. He also leaves many friends who will sorely miss him.
Tres was preceded in death by his father, Francis M. "Buddy" Wright Jr.; and his brother, Tabor Wright.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas, with a visitation beginning at 9:00 A.M..
