Francis Lawrence Sullivan, 53, died September 11 at Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in Galloway after an extensive illness. Born in Neptune, New Jersey to Regina Leona Krebbs and Francis V. "Chickie" Sullivan, Frank grew up in Brick, New Jersey, where he graduated from Brick High School. He began a career as a real estate agent with Diane Turton Realty in Ocean County shortly after graduating. In 1993, he was hired by Bass Pro's restaurant division as their kitchen manager for the Midwest and southern divisions.
As a person, Frank had an unshakable inner strength and passionate determination to help others. Throughout his life his quiet philanthropy, to both people, animals and the environment, was inspirational and his outgoing and joy-filled personality always drew others to him. He made innumerable friends across the country through his jobs and through his community. His death extinguished a glowing soul which will be missed by nearly everyone who knew him.
Frank is predeceased by his first husband Daniel Lemon, his mother, his father, and a half sister Angela Brandstetter (LA). He is survived by his husband David Reilly-Sullivan, who says "We lost a great love, but gained a great memory." Also surviving are his foster mothers Maddox C. Olson and Lydia M. Javins, as well as his Bombay cat Mr. Chance. Other surviving family and friends include a sister Janice Schnorrbusch (Brick); half-brothers Patrick Sullivan (Belmar); Michael Sullivan (Howell); Francis Sullivan, Jr. (Sebastian, FL); half-sisters Barbara Sullivan (Brick); Annamarie Primmer (Toms River). A niece Schyan Brandstetter (Baton Rouge, LA) and Russell Brandstetter (Louisville, KY); and friends Fran Grossberg-Carbone and Ava Riley Grossberg (Manchester). Frank is also survived by many extended family members.
Visitation and a Catholic Service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Lowenstein-Saraceno Funeral Home, 58 South New York Rd., Galloway, 08205 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation at https://ahf.org
