Georgia Louise (Young) DeSimone, age 93, passed away on May 31, 2025, at her home with her family at her side. Georgia Louise (nee Young) DeSimone was born April 22, 1932, in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of William Cornelius and Carol Louise (Cooke) Young, of St. Paul, MN. She resided in Minnesota until 1943, at which time, the family relocated to Royal Oak, MI, where Georgia lived and graduated from Royal Oak High School in 1950. She attended both Michigan State University and Wayne State University. She had two sons by a former marriage. In 1964, Georgia relocated to the Schenectady, NY area, where she has since resided. In 1974, she was remarried to Donald D. DeSimone, of Schenectady, with whom she spent her remaining years. In 1982, the couple cofounded and operated Desiforms, Inc,. The couple shared their residence between Rexford, NY, and Rancho Mirage, CA, where they have maintained a seasonal home. Both Georgia and her husband enjoyed travel as well as countless hours together on the golf course, with their many friends. The couple held memberships in the Mohawk Golf Club in New York and the Desert Island Golf Club in California. Georgia is survived by her husband of 51 years, Donald Dominick DeSimone, her son, Robert Wesley Strain (Ursula), her brother, William C. Young (Terry), seven grandchildren, Jessica Louise (Martin), Marc Alexander (Dorina), Jean Marie, Richard William (Melissa), Eric Michael (Elizabeth), and twins, Sherrie Lynn and Christa Nicole. Georgia is also survived by her great grandchildren Gavin Parker, Eva Noelle, Blake Kennedy, Ethan Finch, Mia Valentina, Josephine Selinde and great grandson Thomas Wesley on the way. She is also survived by her stepson John T. DeSimone. In addition to her parents, Georgia was predeceased by her son Richard William Strain. Calling hours for Georgia will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 10 am – 12 pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. A funeral service will follow at 12 pm at the funeral home. Interment will take place privately for her family at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Georgia's name may be made to City Mission of Schenectady, P.O. Box 760, Schenectady, NY 12301, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis TN 38148-0142.
