Gerald M. Harris, 83, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 3, 2025, at his home. He was born October 26, 1941, in Hartford, Connecticut, to the late Melvin G. and Virginia (Bailey) Harris.

Gerald grew up on Harris Brothers Vegetable Farm. He really enjoyed farm life and working with the family. He graduated from Berlin Heights High School and later Kent State University. He worked for many years at National Acme, serving as plant manager before his retirement.

An avid golfer, Gerry was a big Cleveland Indians (Guardians), Browns, and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He served his country as part of the Ohio National Guard for six years.

He is survived by his brother, Rodney A. (Linda) Harris; nieces and nephews, Sandra Nixon (Robert Lester), Pamela (Ernie) Mangold, and Rodney (Michelle) Harris Jr.; great-nieces and great-nephews, Ethan and Jackson Harris, Heidi and Jeremy Mangold, Chris (Jessica) Shumaker, and Josh (Cheyenne) Nixon; great-great-nieces, Theodore and Lydia Shumaker; uncle, Don Harris and his family, and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin G. Harris; mother, Virginia White; stepfather, George White; and brother, Ronnie Harris, in infancy.

Graveside service is planned for 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at McMillen Cemetery, on River Rd., in Huron. Family is planning to meet at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk at 12:15 p.m. to travel to the cemetery together. Guests may either travel with the family from the funeral home or meet them directly at the cemetery for the service. The family would like to thank Darla Skinner for her loving care to Gerald over the years, and to Southern Care Hospice for their comfort and care most recently.

Memorial contribu-tions may be directed to Huron County Humane Society, 246 Benedict Ave., Norwalk, Ohio 44857.
