Geraldine Stephanie Wilson, age 89 passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30 in New Braunfels, Texas. Born September 3,1935 in Boston, Massachusetts to father George Garrard and mother Frances. Gerrie, as she preferred to be called, was the oldest of three children.
As a young girl growing up she loved the outdoors, spending time at her parent’s cabin in Pennsylvania where she loved to fish. She married her first husband Tommy Thompson Sr and together they had two sons, Tommy Thompson Jr (Yvonne) and Michael “Rocky” Thompson (Chris). After their divorce, mother moved to Texas in 1962 to care for her mother in San Antonio. She married her second husband, John Wilson soon after that and gave birth to a daughter, Linda Wilson Pezzino (Joe). She was a stay at home mom for many years until returning to work. Her favorite job was working in the aircraft maintenance warehouse at the old Kelly AFB until it closed at which time she moved to Hill AFB in Utah where she worked until retiring from civil service in 2006. During her career, she received several certificates of achievement recognizing her work.
Mother always enjoyed watching her sons playing their sports and her daughter’s pep squad performances. She enjoyed watching and cheering for her Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs. Mother loved animals and had many furry friends to keep her company.
She is survived by her three children, six grand children, eleven great grand children, sister Pamela Chissler and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mother was preceded in death by her parents, brother George “Chip” Garrard Jr and her former husbands. We will always love and remember mother in our hearts.
The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
We would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Senior Living Whitby, all the Hospice staff and New Braunfels Care Home who provided care and comfort to mom.
