Gregory A. Esker, 75 of Rosholt, died on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at his son's home, under the care of his family and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.
Greg was born on October 7, 1949, in Wausau, the son of Alfred Sr. and Bernice (Schulist) Esker. He served in the United States Army from July 30, 1969, until March 3, 1971.
On August 14, 1971, Greg was united in marriage to Jeannie Kessler in Nekoosa.
Greg was employed at HammerBlow in Wausau, working in maintenance for 35 years. After retirement, he picked up several side jobs, but his favorite was driving bus. It was there that he became "Boppa" to not only his grandkids, but to many of the school kids and scouts as well. Greg was an outdoorsman and enjoyed ice fishing & hunting with his family. Over the years, he raised 16 horses and found pleasure in feeding & watching the birds and squirrels, an activity he enjoyed until his last day. He was an active member of the Nelson-Kaminski American Legion Post #509 in Rosholt and St Ladislaus Church in Bevent.
Greg is survived by his wife, Jeannie; two children, Rick (Amy) Esker of Rosholt and Becky (Al Poppe) Esker of Tigerton; five grandchildren, Logan (Olivia Keith) Esker, Colton (Molly Pionkowski) Esker, Dawson Esker, Kylie (Roman Pliska) Block and Eli Staszak; siblings, Terry (Penny) Esker and Alfred Jr. (Roxanne Jager) Esker; sister-in-law, Linda (DJ Cain) Kessler, and several nieces and nephews.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 NOON on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Bevent. Rev. Augustine Bentil will preside. Burial will be in the Parish cemetery, with military rites being conducted by the Nelson-Kaminski American Legion Post #509. Visitation will be on Saturday, from 9 AM until the time of Mass at the church.
