Jackson Lee Armstrong, a man whose laughter was as deep as the earth he excavated, embarked on his final adventure on May 6, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on May 26, 1950, in the vibrant town of Greenville, Jackson's life was as rich and fulfilling as the soil he so loved to move.
Jackson, known for his quick wit and infectious smile, was a beacon of joy in the lives of all who knew him. He was the kind of man who could find humor in the mundane and had a knack for turning a regular day into a memorable one with just a well-timed joke. His laughter was a melody that echoed in the hearts of his loved ones, and it will continue to resonate long after his passing.
In his 50 years as a Land Excavator, Jackson not only reshaped the land but also left an indelible mark on the hearts of his colleagues. His retirement was recent, but his stories, like the land he worked, were timeless. Jackson's tales of close calls and big finds on the job were as legendary as the fish that got away-and in his case, they were all true.
Jackson attended school at Kerens ISD. Hunting and fishing weren't just hobbies for Jackson; they were passions that fueled his soul. He understood the woods and waters like the back of his hand, and he respected the balance of nature as much as he enjoyed its bounty.
Jackson's legacy is carried on by a loving family that sparkles like the stars in the Texas sky. His son, Joshua Armstrong, carries his father's spirit of resilience and humor. Jackson's grandchildren, Jessica, Jordan, and Angel, along with three great-grandchildren. His sisters, Lois Marie DeRusha of Rice, TX, and Lexia May Armstrong of Corsicana, TX, will forever cherish the memories of their brother's laugh echoing through the halls of their childhood home.
Preceding Jackson in his journey to the great beyond were his parents, Homer and Florence Armstrong, and his sister Jo Ann Armstrong. They paved the way for Jackson, and now he follows in their footsteps, leaving a trail of laughter and love for those who follow.
As we bid farewell to Jackson Lee Armstrong, let us not dwell on the silence left in the wake of his laughter but rather fill it with our own. Let us share the jokes he taught us, cast our lines into the water in his honor, and keep his spirit alive with every chuckle.
