James J. Gribbin passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 26, 2025. Born on August 29, 1943 in Trenton, NJ, Jim was a man of exceptional wisdom, a handy individual who approached life with an analytical mind.
Jim's journey began as the cherished son of the late Dr. James A. Gribbin and Elizabeth (Wildermuth) Gribbin. His formative years in Trenton were the foundation of a life characterized by dedication and service, traits that would define him in both his professional and personal endeavors.
After completing his education, Jim embarked on a distinguished lifelong career as a Quality Control Engineer at DC Fabricators in Florence, NJ. His exceptional work on nuclear condensers for government contract submarines was a testament to his meticulous nature and unwavering commitment to excellence. His expertise was not only recognized by his colleagues but also by the broader community as he served honorably in the New Jersey Air Force National Guard, further exemplifying his spirit of service.
Jim's life was rich with interests that brought him great joy and fulfillment. He was an avid boater and fisherman, finding peace and solace on the water. His love for music and reading provided him with endless hours of enjoyment. Jim's passion for travel took him to many places, both for business and pleasure.
The depth of Jim's character was reflected in the love and care he showed his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jo Ann Gribbin, who stood by him through the many chapters of their life together. His legacy continues through his daughter, Heather Hommel and her husband David, his granddaughter Kiley Hommel and her husband Ryan Liss, and his grandson Cameron Hommel. His sister, Catherine Russell, his nephew Jamieson Russell, along with his wife Jenny, his nephew Clement Russell, and many cousins and friends will forever cherish the memories they shared with Jim.
Jim's impact extended beyond his immediate family to all who knew him. His wisdom, resourcefulness, and methodical approach to problem-solving made him a respected figure in his community. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Jim understood that his advice was always grounded in experience and a deep understanding of the world around him.
And so, just as the tide returns to the sea, so too does Jim return to the place where his soul felt most at home. His life was marked by kindness, quiet strength, and the joy he found in every sunrise over the water. Though he has set sail on his final voyage, his memory will remain a steady beacon for all who loved him.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2025 from 3:00pm - 6:00pm at Murphy Funeral Home 1863 Hamilton Avenue, Hamilton, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025 at 10:30 AM at St. Raphael Holy Angel Parish 3500 S. Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ.
