James Thomas Obituary

James D. Thomas, 81, of St. Cloud, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Born on December 6, 1943, in Elba, Alabama, to John and Ellen Thomas, Jim led a life marked by service, dedication, and a love for the outdoors.
Jim proudly served in the United States Navy for 22 years, embodying honor and commitment. Following his military career, he dedicated 20 years to the Osceola County Road and Bridge Department, contributing to the community he cherished.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Barbara Barb Thomas; daughter Raina Holliday (born Kim Thomas); son-in-law Darryl Holliday; granddaughter Devan Lind (DiLauro) and her husband, Rich Lind; and great-granddaughter Harley; sister-in-law, Debbie Schaeffer. He is also survived by his brother and sister, numerous nieces, nephews, and devoted friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his two sons, James and John.
A resident of St. Cloud since 1979, Jim and Barb were proud members of Cornerstone Baptist Church for 40 years. An avid outdoorsman, Jim had a passion for horseback riding, achieving the remarkable milestone of riding until the age of 80. He also enjoyed motorcycles, mules, horses, wagons, ham radio, and spending time under his oak tree with his beloved dogs, Sailor and Cinch.
In place of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Roger Haddock Foundation, supporting programs for at-risk youth in Osceola County. Donations can be mailed to:
