Shamokin – Jane A. Williams, 99, formerly of 170 E Dewart Street, Apt. 305, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.
Born in Shamokin on August 15, 1925 to the late George and Hazel (Strausser) Lees. She attended Shamokin Area Schools.
On June 27, 1947 in Shamokin, she married the late Richard Williams. She was a member of First Methodist Church, Shamokin.
Jane loved, and was loved, by everyone she met. There is not enough room to recount the impact that she had on so many lives. In short, she was the best wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother that anyone could have ever hoped for.
Words can’t express how very much she will be missed by her friends and family. The only consolation to those left behind is that she has been released from her failing earthly vessel. Now she is face to face with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and reunited with her husband and daughter.
We would like to thank all of the staff at the Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the care and love given to Jane during her brief stay. Additionally, we want to say thank you to her roommate, Brenda Kays, for her kindness and always being there for Jane.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that any memorial gifts be given to a Christ-honoring organization of their own choice.
Jane is survived by a son, Richard “Rick” A. Williams and his wife, Carol Reed Williams of Elysburg; granddaughter, Tara Wagner and her husband, Ryan of Elysburg; grandson, Travis Williams and his wife, Paige of Elysburg; great grandson, Austyn Balchunas; two great granddaughters, Harper Williams, and Peyton Williams; sister, Nancy Bamford of Shamokin; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, Jane was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John “Hunky” and Mildred (Zeigenfuse) Williams; daughter, Sharon Williams; three brothers, Thomas Lees and his wife, Lenore, George Lees and his wife, June, and Jack Lees and his wife, Helene; five sisters, Eleanor Fleischauer and her husband, Bill, Cora Bailey and her husband, Billy, Dawn Karpiak and her husband, Henry, and Caroline Ring and her husband, Bruce; and a brother-in-law, John J. Bamford.
