Janet Pearl Thompson, 83, of North Vernon, died Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY.
Born March 29, 1942, in Magoffin County, KY, Janet was the daughter of McCoy and Thelma Keeton Miller. She married Ralph Thompson on Dec. 13, 1963, in Napoleon, IN. He survives.
Janet was a 1960 graduate of Versailles High School and a founding member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in North Vernon. She had been a teacher's assistant at North Vernon Early Learning Center for 10 years and North Vernon Elementary for 20 years. She retired in 2005. Janet enjoyed sewing, gardening, flowers, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Ralph, other survivors include son, Mark (Janis) Thompson of Seymour and Pamela (Gary) Williams of North Vernon. Grandchildren, Todd (Kayla) Alexander of Colorado, Zach Alexander of North Vernon, and Kayla Tidwell of Bedford; great-grandchildren, Willow Tidwell and Zhona Tidwell, both of Bedford; Grant Alexander of Colorado; and Audrie McClintock, Aubrey Alexander, Zaidyn Alexander, and Amiya Alexander, all of North Vernon; brothers, Dean (Evelyn) Miller and Charles Miller, both of Osgood and Johnie (Donna) Miller and Grover (Cathy) Miller, both of Versailles; and sister, Helen (Bud) Bauman of Osgood.
Preceding Janet in death were her parents, brothers, Henry Clay Miller, Gray Miller, and Chavis Miller; and sisters, Opal Smith, Reva Mullins, and Susan Owens.
Services for Janet will be held Monday, June 16, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Vernon Cemetery. Burial will be at the cemetery. Friends and family may call from 12 noon until 1:45 p.m. at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice of charities.
