Mr. Jason Al-Darraji, 17, of Barbourville, passed away Tuesday morning, January 14, 2025 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. He was born on February 8, 2007 in Dearborn, MI, the son of Linda Sue Payne.
Jason was a student and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed gaming, playing Fortnite, listening to music, hiking and being out of doors and swimming. He liked to work on cars and dreamed of one day being a diesel mechanic. He also loved time with his family and caring for his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Daw and Mae Payne.
Survivors include his loving mother, Linda Payne of Barbourville; siblings, Hannah Marie Al-Darraji and partner, Jonathan McBrayer, of Barbourville, Huda Hawthorne and husband, Jake, of Clarksville, TN and Hassan Al-Darraji and partner, Rebekah Roark, of Barbourville; nieces, Hope Marie Stewart and Taytum Marie Al-Darraji; nephews, Kingston James Stewart and Liam Jacob Brown; special friends, Nicholas Scott, Travis Scott, Zachary Johnson and Brady Bargo; his fur baby, Pancake; the Shelton family; Gray family; Darrell Hobbs and the Hobbs Family; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Monday, January 20 at 12 Noon with Rev. Charles Carnes officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Travis Scott, Nicholas Scott, Hassan Al-Darraji, Brady Bargo, Zachary Johnson and Jonathan McBrayer.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday between 1 and 4 P.M. and Monday prior to the funeral hour.
Donations are being accepted at the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
