Jessica A. Dougherty

Jessica Ann (Yanni) Dougherty of East Norriton passed away on June 17, 2025. Jessica was the cherished wife of Stephen Joseph Dougherty for 52 years.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Irene (Sacco) Yanni. She attended St. William School in Lawndale and was a faithful member of St. William Parish for over 50 years.
Jessica loved her family. She is survived by her husband, Stephen; her children, Michael Eric (Alison) Dougherty, Cara Ann (Sean) Jenkins, and Dana Marie (John) Dean; her four wonderful grandchildren, Elisa Ann and Lavinia Marie Dougherty, Stephen Michael and Alexandra Jay Dean; her sister Frances (Mike, deceased) Prendergast, and her brother Antonio "Tony" (Bernadette) Yanni. Jessica was preceded in death by her daughter, Maura Frances Dougherty.
Jessica valued education. She graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School in 1967, earned her degree from LaSalle University, and continued learning at St. Joseph's University, Arcadia University, and Philadelphia University. Jessica was a teacher in Philadelphia Catholic Schools, spending some of her best years at Incarnation of Our Lord in Olney. She volunteered for school development projects and to teach computer and adult literacy classes to underserved communities. Jessica's career took her from classroom teaching to professional training, where she worked at Temple University Hospital and the University of Pennsylvania Health System, and then to supporting the School of Nursing at Thomas Edison State University.
Jessica enjoyed learning, watching the Phillies win, going down the shore, socializing with family and friends, organizing things, shopping, and gift-giving. Her children are eternally grateful for her constant support and guidance.
A funeral Mass to celebrate Jessica's life will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Saint Helena Church, 1489 Dekalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422. Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Church from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass.
Inurnment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
