John Fredericks Howard Jr, 93, of Forrest City, North Carolina, passed away on September 9, 2025 surrounded by family after a short illness. He was born April 18, 1932 in Pasadena, California to the late U. S. Army Colonel John F. Howard Sr. and the late Phebe Eidson Howard. A proud veteran, John served his country for 26 years in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3. In the Korean War he served in the Infantry and in the Vietnam War he served three tours in the United States Army Signal Corps. While serving, he was awarded the Bronze Star, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, and Combat Infantryman Badge, along with other service awards, honors, and accommodations. In retirement he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism and became a radio disc jockey at KJAZZ in Los Angeles California.

He is survived by his daughters Ruth, Leslie, Patricia, and Esther; his grandchildren Karl, Josh, Justin, Keith, Kyle (along with his wife Nicole), and Katharina; along with great grand-daughters, Devon and Dylan.

Funeral services will be held at a later date (to be determined) in Arlington, Virginia. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to a Military charity of your choice, or simply thank a VETERAN for their service.

"Hooah" John, you will be dearly missed.
