John Alfred Thomas, Papa, 87, was a beloved and loving Christian man, always setting the example of the quiet and respected leader for his family. He was also a master sergeant in the Air Force and a dedicated Masonic lodge member.
He was proceeded in death by the love of his life, Mary JoAnn Thomas, and daughter, Dana Kaye Wright, as well as his brothers, sisters and parents.
Papa is survived by his son, Joe Dan Thomas, and his daughter Patti Lynn Thomas, son-in-law, Michael Wright and his wife Penny. He is also survived by six grandbabies and 16 great grandbabies: Amanda Wright, Candace Fleetwood and husband, Jeremy and their six children, Gregory, Wright, and wife, Lauren, and their two children, Heather Gajewsky and husband, Matt, and their three children, Kara Holbert and husband, Blake and their three children, and Kylie Ponder and husband David and their two children.
Papa is remembered for his love of his family and always supporting them in any way he could. He was a comical, selfless, loving man that would do anything for anyone. He was the best father and Papa any could ask for. He loves spending time with his family, an avid football fan of the Cowboys, and of course everyone's favorite memory, him reading the Christmas story from the Bible to all of his grandbabies and great grandbabies.
There will be a graveside service Monday, May 12, 2025 in the mausoleum chapel at Rosewood Park starting at 2pm. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service starting at 1pm. Arrangements are under the care of Rader Funeral Home in Longview
He is celebrating his reunion with his family, but he will be missed greatly and loved forever.
