Jose Conrado Herrera, Sr., lovingly known as “Popal”, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on July 6, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 83. Born on August 27, 1941, in Laredo, Texas, Jose was a man who brought joy and laughter to those around him.

Jose and Charlotte were active members of the Old San Patricio World Championship Rattlesnake Races. They would hunt for rattlesnakes all year round and then they would go to the Freer Rattlesnake Roundup to display and sell the snakes.
Jose was a farmer by heart, taking care of the ranch and working with the cattle and farm animals. He also worked the fields with his tractor and planted crops, which was a joyful daily routine for him.
