To all Family and friends of Joes I know and may have met I am jealous of how lucky you are to have enjoyed his company far more than me.
I met Joe first on Monument Circle so long ago(90s)as he gave his time, and talent, freely to give us that creative beauty we know as The Worlds Biggest Christmas Tree. His energy was infectious as he strived to make that tree a proud product of safe electrical practice he had learned as a trade and shared with all of us involved to make it the beauty we all love that time of year.
That was then and then again we met at a King get together at Garfield Park just a few years ago as I was invited to share the day with all the Kings. I have become friends with Joes three Granddaughters, Bridget,Emily and Theresa and now Theresas baby Elliot. How lucky would that day be for me. My oldest son John is Emilys partner for more years now that I can count and she guided me to Joe that day at first an introduction and then an all day 'chat'.
Man could Joe converse on all topics and with a memory Plato couldn't match. Our talk as we sat in chairs side by side as hours passed seamlessly watching kites fly and kids and adults enjoy a great day all the way till sunset. I left that day just motivated to share what he shared with me. What a great, funny intelligent guy all you that knew him well must be so proud to share too.
Please accept that I share your mourning and smiles as we remember what Joe gave us throughout his long life. Hope you all pass on some of his stories as he freely did with me as you that loved him most get through these few days of justified celebration of his life. What a great life for a King, really I'm a King I can hear him saying as he smiles on us down here.
