Joseph Edward "Big Joe" Reuther, Sr., age 82, of Clarkson, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, with loving family by his side. He was born on August 26, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Joseph and Rose (Fandell) Reuther. He retired from Ford Kentucky Truck Plant after 30 years of faithful service. Big Joe played basketball for University of Louisville. He was an ASA Umpire and was inducted into the ASA Hall of Fame. He and his wife, Ann, have lived on Nolin Lake for over 24 years where they were both very active in their community, serving on the Board of Directors. Big Joe was President of Twin Cove as well as President of Knights of Columbus Council #6743 several times. He loved fishing and all sports, but his true passion was spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John J. and James R. Reuther.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 57 years, Ann Reuther; sons, Joey Reuther, Jr. (Monica) and Michael Reuther (Angela); grandchildren, Kyle Joseph Reuther (Katie), Sierra Jones (Dakota), Ashley Decent (Adam) and Kendrea Douthitt; great-grandchildren, Michaela Reuther, Taylor Logsdon (Dylan), Landon Constant, Emmett Douthitt and Payton Douthitt; the community of Twin Cove and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 10:00 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with cremation to follow. Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 1:00 until 8:00 and on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 9:00 until the time of service at the funeral home.
