Joseph Thomas Sr.

Born: July 20, 1948 | Died: May 1, 2025

Joseph (Joe) Thomas Sr. age 76, of Maryville passed away on May 1st 2025. He was born on July 20, 1948, in Walland Tennessee. Joe was a long time member of the Masons and the Shriner's clubs. He was a member of East Maryville Baptist Church. Joe was a 1968 graduate of Walland High School. He enjoyed car racing, hunting and fishing. Joe retired from the Knoxville News Sentinel. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, James and Aleene (Gamble) Thomas: his brother Jack Thomas, His sister Jean (Thomas) Burnett, and his nephew, Allen Dotson. Joe is survived by his wife Brenda (Anthony) Thomas, His daughter and son in law Angela Thomas and Kenneth Cunningham, and his son Joseph (Joey) Thomas Jr.; Three granddaughters of which he was very proud of, Kaitlyn Cunningham, Mia Cunningham, and Charlee Thomas; Brothers; James Thomas, William (Bill) Thomas, and sister Lisa (Thomas) Orr, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends on Wednesday May 7th from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Smith Trinity Chapel and a service will follow at 12:00 PM with Reverend Greg Long officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 PM at Grandview Cemetery. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Morningview Transitional Care for all they have done for Joe.
