Born on June 12, 1948, in Hartley, IA, to Robert and Vera (Albright) Hoper. Julene embodied a spirit of dedication, compassion, and inspiration throughout her remarkable life.

Julene's educational journey began at Hartley High School, where she distinguished herself as an all-state basketball player, paving the way for an illustrious academic career. She went on to attend the University of Iowa, proudly earning her Bachelors of Arts degree and later receiving her master’s degree from the University of South Dakota. Determined to make a lasting impact in the realm of education, she furthered her studies in Community College Administration at Colorado State University, culminating in the achievement of her PhD.

In her professional life, Julene served with distinction as a Dean of Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City for more than two decades, a role from which she retired in 2013. Her commitment to education and her students was unwavering, and her influence extended beyond the classroom, inspiring countless individuals to pursue their dreams and goals.

Family was at the heart of Julene's life. She married her cherished husband, Anthony Stoik, on January 24, 1970, in a heartfelt ceremony held in her parents’ living room in Hartley. Together, they shared 55 beautiful years. Julene is also survived by her adored daughter, Nicole Dockter, and son-in-law, Marc Dockter, along with her grandson, Myles Dockter, who were the pride and joy of her life. Her two sisters, Joanne Peterson and Jannet Carmichael, and brother-in-law, James P. Stoik, will also hold her memory close to their hearts. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Julene embraced life with a vibrant spirit. She was an avid traveler, with a particular memory for visiting Majorca, an island off the coast of Spain. Her love for friends and family was evident in the warmth she brought to her relationships. She was actively involved in the Plymouth Congregational Church, PEO, and Eastern Star, where she cultivated a sense of community and belonging that reflected her generous nature.

Julene H. Stoik leaves behind a tremendous legacy—one of educational excellence, community service, and an unwavering love for her family.
