Katherine "Kelly" LaNell Cook, 66, of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, with her family by her bedside. She was born on October 30, 1958, in Amarillo, Texas, to Ed Gautreaux and Carolyn Kay (Teeas) Johnson.
A longtime resident of Fort Gibson, Kelly dedicated a decade of service as a librarian at Connors State College before retiring in 2014. Her love for books and learning left a lasting impression on the campus community.
On November 27, 1989, Kelly married the love of her life, Billy Cook. Their marriage spanned more than 35 years and was marked by deep companionship and shared adventures. In retirement, Kelly and Billy enjoyed traveling together, especially to San Antonio and New Orleans-destinations that brought them joy and lasting memories.
Kelly found delight in simple pleasures. She enjoyed playing games on her phone, attending real estate auctions, and cherished every moment spent with her family. Her greatest passion was being surrounded by loved ones, and she leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and devotion.
Kelly is preceded in death by her father, Ed Gautreaux; stepfather, Dan Johnson; mother, Carolyn (Kay) Johnson; son, Wesley Cook; and sister, Tonya Johnson.
Those left behind to cherish Kelly's memory are her loving husband, Billy Cook of the home; sons, Shane Bell and wife Misty of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, Danny Lindquist of McKinney, Texas, Christopher Cook and wife Shannon of Sugar Hill, Georgia, and Shawn Cook of Sugar Hill, Georgia; daughter, Amanda Lindquist of Muskogee, Oklahoma; grandson, Aidyn Lindquist of Muskogee, Oklahoma; granddaughters, Kailee Lindquist of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, Addisyn Lindquist of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Brooklyn Bell of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma; brothers, Ronnie Bell of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma and Dan Johnson, Jr. of Muskogee, Oklahoma; extended family; and many friends.
