Kent Dewayne Brown, 65, of Kountze, died Wednesday April 30, 2025. He was born on November 10, 1959, in Port Arthur, to Betty Janell Fitzgerald Reeves and O.D. Brown.
At the age of twelve or thirteen, Kent acquired his first job sweeping floors in a paint and body shop owned by Mr. Paul Eason. By the age of fifteen, he was helping to write estimates, learning to repair vehicles, and going out on tow truck calls on his own. This is where he developed the passion for cars and the automotive repair industry. Kent didn't hesitate to tell anyone that a lot of what he learned was taught to him by Mr. Paul Eason. (He also didn't hesitate to tell anyone that when Mr. Paul finally retired that Mr. Paul did so while working at his shop.) His love for repairing vehicles gave him a career and that career turned him into a successful business owner. For over thirty years he owned and operated Kent's Collision Center. In those thirty plus years he did his best to be an upstanding member of the community, giving help where the help was needed when people brought their vehicle to him for repairs. He was proud of what he and his wife Peggy had built and was proud of his guys that worked for him.
Kent also had a passion for fishing and hunting, and he loved doing those things with his family and friends. When he physically couldn't do them anymore, he would still spend his weekends at the lake or in the woods at deer camp supporting everyone else that could do them. He loved his loud music, he loved his buggy, he loved his business, he loved his dogs, he loved his life, but most importantly, he loved his family and friends and the time he spent with them making memories.
Survivors include his children, Tarah Tumlinson and her husband, Charlie, of Kountze; Joshua Brown and his wife, Melanie, of Beaumont; and David Beadle and his wife, Tracy; grandchildren, Michael Brown and his wife, Claire, of Alaska; Abigail Brown, Audrey Brown, Lydia "JoJo" Brown, and Thomas Brown, all of Beaumont; Micah Sanchez and Gabriel Sanchez, both of Evadale; siblings, Kathy Gray; and Robb Starr and his wife, Laurie, of Lumberton.
He is preceded in death by his wife of thirty years, Peggy Brown; father, O.D. Brown; mother, Janell Reeves and her husband, Gayle Reeves; and brother, Kim Brown.
A gathering of Mr. Brown's family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with his funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025, at Broussard's, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His interment to follow at Pedigo Cemetery, Town Bluff.
