With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Lawrence Farrin Scott Sr., who departed this life on April 26, 2025, at the age of 60. A devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished community member, Lawrence touched the lives of all who knew him with his kindness, strength, and unwavering dedication to family and youth.
Born on October 25, 1964, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Georgia Pegues and Murray Scott, Lawrence was a proud graduate of McLain High School. He earned an associate degree in Quality Control Engineering from Langston University, where he first discovered his passion for leadership and teamwork. That passion continued throughout his life as he became a well-known figure in the Tulsa community, coaching both basketball and football and mentoring countless young people throughout the years. His commitment to guiding youth extended far beyond the field-he was a steady source of encouragement, wisdom, and inspiration to many.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Orlando Scott Sr., and his father, Murray Scott jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving mother, Georgia Scott; devoted wife, Christina Scott; three children, Amber N. Scott, Sophie M. Scott, and Lawrence F. Scott Jr.; and his treasured grandson, Taitum J. Frederick. He is also survived by his siblings, Antoni Scott (Deborah Scott), Marjorie Ross, and Anita Mayes (Floyd Mayes); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
Lawrence will be remembered not only for his love of family and his presence on the sidelines, but for the integrity, humor, and heart he brought to every part of his life. His legacy will live on in the lives of those he uplifted, coached, and cared for.
