Lawrence Youngblood Obituary

Lawrence J. Youngblood III, formerly of Wilkes-Barre Township and most recently of Nanticoke, passed away on May 25, 2025.

Larry was born on Jan. 16, 1962, was a graduate of Bishop Hoban High School, and attended both Penn State University and King's College. Larry was employed by the Wilkes-Barre Area School District for several decades before his retirement.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, the late Lawrence J. Youngblood II, and his mother, the late Barbara Moses Youngblood.

Larry is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Mary Jo; a son, Lawrence (Larry) J. Youngblood IV; a daughter, Lauren M. Youngblood; sisters: Molly A. Youngblood and Suzanne E. Youngblood; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Larry was also an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as a fan of Penn State football, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Villanova basketball.

Celebration of Larry's Life takes place on Saturday at the Church of the Maternity of the B.V.M. at the Parish of Our Lady of Hope, 40 Park Avenue, in Wilkes-Barre. Visitation begins at 10 a.m., and the funeral Mass begins at 11 a.m.

Larry was always there to lend a helping hand and had an amazing heart. He touched many people, both young and old, throughout his lifetime.
