Lorraine H. Mitchell

Lorraine H. (Dodds) Mitchell, 75, of Youngstown, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital. Born Aug. 7, 1949, in Loyalhanna, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence M. Dodds Jr. and Helen (Fyalkowski) Dodds. Lorraine had been an active member and volunteer at the Latrobe United Presbyterian Church. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed at Latrobe Hospital. She enjoyed quilting with her church group and traveling with her husband on their motorcycle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Dodds; her in-laws, Raymond and Ann Mitchell; and a brother-in-law, Darwin Mitchell. Lorraine is survived by her husband of 55 years, Raymond W. Mitchell Jr., of Youngstown; one daughter, Holly L. Tonkin, and her husband, Bill, of Blairsville; one son, Brian S. Mitchell, and his wife, Jennifer, of Windermere, FL; five grandchildren, Mitchell Tonkin (Sara), Blake Tonkin (Jake), Zachary Mitchell (Anna), Tyler Mitchell, and Maddie Mitchell; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Dodds and Linda Dodds. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Latrobe United Presbyterian Church with her pastor, Rev. Ronald Durika, officiating. Private interment will be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Latrobe United Presbyterian Church, 340 Spring St., Latrobe, PA 15650.
