Margaret "Peggy" Anne Diaz
December 14, 1956 – June 21, 2025
Margaret Anne Diaz, lovingly known as Peggy, was unexpectedly called to her eternal
home on June 21, 2025, at Memorial West Hospital in Pembroke Pines, Florida where
she was surrounded by family. She was 68 years old.
Peggy was born on December 14, 1956, in Washington, D.C., to the late Joseph and
Elizabeth Shanahan. She is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Jose Diaz;
her beloved children, Alyssa and Joshua; and her cherished granddaughter, Historia,
who brought joy to her life. She also leaves behind her loving sister, Kathy, three loving
brothers, Michael, Timothy, and Christopher, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Suitland High School in District Heights, Maryland, Peggy moved
to Florida with her family. Of her work experience, the most impactful was her time at
Motorola, where she not only built lasting friendships but also met her husband. Later,
she devoted herself fully to the role she loved most: homemaker and caregiver, both to
her own children and to many others. It was her proudest accomplishment.
To know Peggy was to know warmth, humor, and boundless love. She found happiness
in the simple things: talking and spending time with family and friends, watching her
favorite TV shows and movies, devouring new books, and laughing as often as she
could.
In honor of her deep empathy for children and her personal experience with cancer,
Peggy faithfully supported St. Jude Children's Research Hospital-an organization that
was close to her heart. If desired, the family invites you to consider donating to St. Jude’s
in her honor.
Peggy's legacy of love, strength, and compassion will live on in all of us. Though her
physical presence may be gone, her spirit will continue to guide, uplift, and inspire. May
her memory be a blessing and may we each carry forward the lessons of her life: to love
deeply, live fully, and fight fiercely for what-and who-matters most.
