Obituary of Margie Lewis
Margaret "Margie" Lewis, 75, died at her home in New Florence, PA on February 7, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on August 20, 1949, in Erie, the daughter of the late William and Veronica (Trojanovich) Ester. Margaret was a loving daughter, devoted wife, and dedicated mother.
She graduated from Wattsburg High School in 1967. She was voted the "most likely to succeed" by her senior class and declared in the yearbook that her post-grad plans were to get married and have four or five kids. She was a true success in the eyes of her husband, children and grandchildren.
An enthusiastic homemaker, Margaret found her greatest joy in the love of family. She had a way of making those around her feel cherished and transforming her house into a home. She enjoyed creating things for others to enjoy crocheting afaghans for her grandchildren, sewing quilts for her children's bedrooms, and baking cookies for countless family occasions, big and small. Margaret was a master at organizing large get-togethers and loved nothing more than having the whole family gathered to share a scrumptious meal. She was often found in the kitchen (usually with a grandchild at her side) making pies, Jello salads and sweet breads. Her love for her home extended to the outdoors as she also enjoyed mowing the lawn or tending to her blueberries, and she could be counted on to recite the name of any flower or plant.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Doris Allen and brothers-in-law, Gilbert Allen and Edward Golden.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Homer "Bud" Lewis. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling together to visit family, vacationing in Branson, and attending Daniel O'Donnell concerts. She is further survived by four children, Jennifer (Don) Kibbe of Seward, Jessica (Lee) Lenhart of New Florence, Amelia (Tarik) Abd of Rochester Mills, Jacob (Snow) Lewis of State College; 14 grandchildren, Madelyn (Harold) Kolonich, Nathan Kibbe, Ethan (Julie) Kibbe, Brayden Kibbe, Graham Lenhart, Gabriel Lenhart, Grace Lenhart, Grant Lenhart, Abigail Abd, Elizabeth Abd, Lincoln Abd, Yona Lewis, Abraham Lewis and Bernadette Lewis; her great-grandchildren, Chloe, Emilia, Meredith and Benedict Kolonich; her sisters, Rita (Lynn) Thompson and Beverly Golden; and her brother Gerald (JoAnne) Ester.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier Street, New Florence, where a service will also be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday with Pastor Dave Streets officiating. A private interment will follow at Fairfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Margaret's memory to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, one of her favorite charities.
