New Iberia – A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Catholic Church at 11:00 am on Friday, May 30, 2025, for Marguerite “Margie” Renoudet Allen, 77, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Hospice of Acadiana’s Calcutta House.
Rev. Conner Poirrier will be the Celebrant.
Inurnment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be at St. Peter's Catholic Church from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Friday.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Marguerite "Margie" Cecile Renoudet Allen was born on June 22, 1947. A proud graduate of Mount Carmel Academy in 1965, Margie further honed her intellect by earning her Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University. A devoted lifelong educator, she dedicated her life to instilling knowledge and fostering a love for learning in the hearts of countless children.
Her career as a teacher and private tutor was marked by an unwavering commitment to her students. Retired from the Iberia Parish School Board, Margie's passion for education and her ability to connect with children transformed the lives of many, encouraging them to reach for their dreams. Her impact extended far beyond the classroom, as she inspired generations of learners to embrace knowledge with curiosity and zeal.
Margie was not only an educator but also a talented artist. She embraced her creative side through arts and crafts, bringing beauty and joy into the lives of those around her. Her artistic spirit was a reflection of the warmth and love she shared with all, making her home a haven filled with laughter, creativity, and cherished memories.
Throughout her life, Margie was known for her loving nature and her ability to make everyone feel special. Her nurturing ways and unwavering support touched the hearts of her family, friends, and students alike. She will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, George Allen; sons, Paul Emery Allen (Kimberly Arnold Allen) of Texas City, TX, and David George Allen (Leah Victoria Allen) of Woodstock, GA; sister, Denise Marie Renoudet of Baton Rouge; and four grandchildren, Avery Allen, Jack Allen, Olivia Allen, and Holden Allen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elodie Fortier Renoudet.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Acadiana.
Margie’s gentle spirit will live on in the memories of those whose lives she enriched with her dedication and love. May she rest in peace.
