Born on May 26, 1936, in Havana, Cuba, to Dionisio Ditas and Carmen Rodriguez, Maria Julia Lopez-Chavez was the cherished sister of Ramona, Adelaide, Ricardo, Leonilo, Jose Manuel, Argelia, and Neida.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carlos Lopez-Chavez Jr.
Maria was the devoted mother of Jorge Jesus Marrero and the proud grandmother of Jacqueline Marrero, Jeanette Marie Marrero, and Veronica Marrero.
She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Zachary Decespedes and Alexander Decespedes.
A deeply loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Maria was known for her generous spirit and strength.
She played a vital role in raising her granddaughters, Jacqueline and Jeanette, and created lasting memories with them and her husband during their travels. One of her favorite pastimes was visiting casinos, where she enjoyed life's little thrills.
Maria made countless sacrifices throughout her life, including helping bring her siblings from Cuba to the United States in pursuit of a better future for them.
Her legacy of love, resilience, and selflessness will live on through the family she so dearly cherished.
She will definitely be missed but never forgotten! May she Rest in Peace!
