SHELBY: Mark David Hoverkamp Jr., born June 3, 1983, in New Haven County, Connecticut, decided to take his final joyride into the sunset on May 11, 2025, at the age of 41, in Cleveland County, North Carolina.
Mark was a man who danced to the beat of his own 80's soundtrack, with his trusty motorcycle as his preferred dance partner. If there was sunshine, you could bet Mark was outdoors soaking it up, likely with sand between his toes and a grin that stretched from beach to shining beach.
A social butterfly, Mark never met a stranger—only friends he hadn't yet made. His bubbly personality made him a favorite in any gathering, whether it was a backyard barbecue or a spontaneous road trip. He had a knack for bringing out the best in people and leaving them with a smile.
Though he left us far too soon, Mark's legacy of love and laughter remains. Preceded in death by his beloved mother, Carol Paugh, his father, Mark David Hoverkamp Sr., and sister, Kimberly Clement, Mark is now probably organizing a heavenly reunion with his family.
He leaves behind a brother and confidant, Jayden Hoverkamp, and Jayden's significant other, Amanda Berry, who both shared many an adventure with him. Also surviving are his brother Kenny Hoverkamp, sister Julie Hoverkamp, and several nieces and nephews who will undoubtedly carry on his penchant for mirth and mischief.
The family will announce a service at a later date, where stories will be shared, laughter will echo, and perhaps a little 80’s music will play in honor of a truly remarkable life. Until then, we are sure that Mark is cruising the celestial highways, basking in eternal sunshine, and filling the heavens with his infectious spirit.
Ride on, Mark. You'll forever be loved and missed.
