Mark Andrew Martinez of Lower San Pedro passed away at his home on his birthday, January 12, 2025, after a lengthy illness.
He is preceded in death by his father Jose Celso Martinez, his maternal grandparents Bersabe Montoya de Abeyta and Alfredo Abeyta of San Pedro; paternal grandparents Antonio Martinez and Margarita Martinez of El Guique, NM.
He is survived by his mother, Maria Corrine Abeyta Martinez of San Pedro; brother, Marlo Martinez (Valerie); brother, Marvin Martinez; sister, Marcella Velasquez (Thomas); sister, Margaret Martinez (Peter); godmother, Stella Roybal Quintana, and many nieces and nephews.
Mark spent his entire life living at home with his parents, where he built a reputation as a kind and generous friend to many. He was often seen walking along lower San Pedro Road and Riverside Drive, always ready with a kind word for everyone he encountered. Known for his contagious smile and warm presence, Mark was a genuinely lovely person who brought joy to those around him. His kindness and spirit will be deeply missed.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are all his nieces and nephews.
The Martinez family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Donna Archuleta & staff of Legacy Care, and all the First Responders for their unwavering support and dedication during this challenging time. Your kindness and commitment have meant the world to us.
A Rosary will take place Friday, January 31, 2025, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz at 10:30am, with a Mass to follow at 11:00am. A private interment at the Santa Fe National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
Following the Mass, a funeral reception will be held at the Knights of Columbus in Arroyo Seco NM.
The nightly ceremony in Washington, D.C. will be dedicated in honor of your loved one on the day of your choosing.
