NORTH ATTLEBORO – Mary Beatrice Bishop, 95, of North Attleboro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Norman J. Bishop, who she was married to for 59 years before his passing in 2013.
Born in North Attleboro on January 16, 1930, Mary was the devoted daughter of Italian immigrants, the late Joseph and Nunzia (Nardelli) Pacelli. She was raised in North Attleboro and left school early to help support her family while both of her brothers were serving in World War II.
After marrying Norman, Mary found her true calling as a devoted wife and mother. She lovingly made a warm and welcoming home, a place centered on love, laughter, and tradition. Family was everything to Mary - especially her grandchildren, with whom she treasured every moment.
Mary was an avid reader finishing books in just a few days, always needing something new to read. The local library kept a special bookmark just for her so she could pickup right where she left off. Mary enjoyed cooking homemade Italian meals for her family, knitting and ceramics. But her most cherished moments were when she was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She leaves her loving children: her son Norman Bishop and his wife Kelly(McPhee) and her daughter Holly Pearce and her husband Jimmy Winters, all of North Attleboro. She was the proud and adoring grandmother of Connor Pearce and his companion Kirstin Hatzell of Cumberland, RI; Nathan Pearce, Rylee Pearce, Olivia Bishop, and Caroline Bishop, all of North Attleboro.
Mary is also survived by many nieces and nephews who affectionately knew her as "Auntie." She was the sister of the late Dominic Pacelli, Louis Pacelli, and Connie Brown.
Her funeral service, to which relatives and friends are most kindly invited, will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Sperry-McHoul-Pichi Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. Interment will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Towne Street, Attleboro Falls. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Mary's name to the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation, 11A Blackstone Valley Place, Lincoln, RI 02865 or online at www.gloriagemma.org. Please make checks payable to GGBCRF.
