Mary Jean (Kish) age 96, of Dublin, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, at Friendship Village on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 5, 1928 to the late James and Mary Kish.
Jean received her Bachelor's degree from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) in 1950 where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. It was at Miami University where she met her beloved husband, Melvin L. Olix. They married in 1951 and spent 60 wonderful years together. They were avid travelers, seeking remote and unusual destinations through the years, traveling together and with family and friends. In later years, Jean enjoyed needlepoint, bridge and was a voracious reader. She attended many grandchildren's graduations and even saw her first Mardi Gras parade. She will be remembered for her warm smile and love and devotion to her family.
Jean is survived by children; Marianne Williams (Dale), Peggy Benkelman (Barney), Gary Olix, and Tom Olix (Susan); grandchildren; Keely Williams (Jason Decker), Dale Williams, III, Charles Williams, Neil Benkelman, Grant Benkelman (Hannah), Louise Benkelman, Daniel Olix, M.D., Jennifer Olix; great grandchildren; Finn, Ward and Andie.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Mel in 2012.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 11, 2025 at St. Brendan Catholic Church 4475 Dublin Road. Entombment to follow at Union Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Jean's honor to Miami University or charity of your choice. https://www.givetomiamioh.org/s/916/22/landing.aspx
