Mary Schultz Obituary

Watertown, WI - Mary Rose Schultz, age 99, died Feb. 14, 2025 at Marquardt Memorial Manor where she had made her home for the past several years.

The former Mary Rose Scheiber was born on Oct. 22, 1925, in Watertown, daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Engelhart) Scheiber. She was baptized at St. Henry Catholic Church on Oct. 25, 1925 and confirmed at the church on Nov. 9, 1940. She later became a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Watertown where on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 1948 she was united in marriage with the late William Harder Schultz.

Because a renovation project is underway at St. Luke's Church, the funeral service will be held in the chapel of Luther Preparatory School at noon on Saturday, March 1. Entrance can be gained from the Western Avenue doors or the on-campus parking area off of College Avenue. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Anthony Schultz, Rev. Justin Cloute and Rev. Timothy Redfield of St. Luke's congregation. Relatives and friends can pay their respects at the Luther Prep School chapel from 9 a.m. until the time of services. A private committal service will be held at a later date at Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, can be directed to the Renew and Restore campaign at St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Online condolences may be left at www.HafemeisterFH.com.

They have five children, all of whom survive. They are Thomas (Mary) Schultz and Sandra Schultz of Watertown, Linda (Brad Johns) of Clinton, Tenn., Janet (the late Thomas) Wicker of DeKalb, Ill., and Susan (Robert) Johanson of Youngsville, N.C. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Sharon Looney of Marine, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William, her parents and her sister, Irene Scheiber.

Mary was a 1943 graduate of Watertown High School and worked at the lunch counter at the old F. W. Woolworth Store on North Fourth and Main streets until she became a full-time stay-at-home mother. After raising their five children she went back to work at Eaton Corporation in the assembly division where she worked several decades until her retirement. Bill and Mary were co-owners and operators of the A. Kramp Company of Watertown for many years and were also the developers of Mary Rose Subdivision on the city's west side, and Grandview Heights Subdivision on the city's northeast side. They developed and sold over 400 single family residential lots in the city over the years. She enjoyed crafts including cross stitch, ceramics and gardening.

The family is grateful for the wonderful support given to her by the staff at Marquardt, the medical staff that cared for her and the many visits from her pastors.
