Mary Katherine Smith Parker, 79, passed away Friday, June 20th, 2025, after multiple illnesses in Columbus, Ohio at St. Ann's Hospital. She passed away peacefully with her daughter and granddaughters by her side. She was born in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1946. She lived in Jacksonville, Florida most of her life until moving to Ohio where she lived the last 16 years of her life. She worked at the Duval County School Board in Jacksonville for over 30 years. She was a member of Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church where she devoted her Wednesdays and Sundays watching services online from Ohio.
She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. Her favorite things to do were to read books, watch professional football, Dog The Bounty Hunter, and loved watching Addison's racing whether in person, following on the timing app, or on tv. She was so proud of Alyssa's schooling and encouraged her not to get so stressed for tests as she knew Alyssa will go on to be an amazing dermatologist one day. She watched Devyn grow up to become a wonderful Nurse, wife, and mother and got to enjoy her two great-grandsons for the last time just days before her death.
Before moving to Ohio, she was a huge part in raising her grandsons Issac and Jason. She has watched them grow up to be the men they are today. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, and cousin and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was known for her kind and selfless heart, silly ways, and her infectious smile and laugh. She will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1:00 pm, Friday, June 27, 2025, with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm, at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church of God of Prophecy, Inc., 1441 Hickman Road, Jacksonville, FL 32216. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville. FL 32205.
