Mary Gretchen Voorhees Green, 76, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, passed away March 24, 2025 at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville with her beloved spouse at her side. Mary was born May 21, 1949 in Washington, D.C., to Roy Dale Voorhees and Mary Peck Voorhees.
Mary was a long-time resident of Fort Worth, Texas, where she taught English as a Second Language to students of all ages, as well as GED classes for many years. While in Fort Worth, she met Michael Albert Green at a Christmas party in December of 2004, and they were married the following July.
Upon retiring and moving to Bella Vista, Mary played piano in assisted living centers and nursing homes, and loved lifting the spirits of the elderly and infirm. She also appreciated the natural beauty of Bella Vista, and enjoyed the many walks and hikes she and Michael had. Mary was also a member of the Bell a Vista Mystery Book Club, and the Andante Music Club of Bella Vista.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and her older brother Van. She is survived by her sister Kristin Voorhees MacRae and her husband Rod, brothers Joseph Rox Voorhees and his wife Christa (Kulp), and Bret Thomas Voorhees and his wife Jennifer (McElherne), sister-in-law Carol Fowler Voorhees (Van's wife), and many dearly loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
No services are planned at this time; the body will be interred at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa at a later date.
