Melissa J. Mikels Moore, age 49, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior at 2:02 p.m., on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at her home in Sikeston. She was surrounded by her loved ones as she was welcomed into the arms of her Savior after a courageous battle with cancer. Melissa was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be remembered for her warm spirit, generous heart, love and devotion to family and her unyielding faith.
Melissa was born August 2, 1975, to Standley and Linda Roach Mikels in Sikeston, MO where she resided. On March 1, 1996, she married Mark Moore who survives of the home.
She was a loving mother to their son Garrett Moore of Springfield, MO.
Also surviving are her brothers, Tony (Tonya) Mikels of Advance, MO; Stephen (Danielle) Mikels of Sikeston; sister, Lorinda, Mikels Shanks and partner, Nathan Counts of Sikeston.
Melissa is also survived by nieces and nephews, Jake and Kara Mikels, Amber and Matt Romo of Sikeston, MO; Ian Mikels of Manilla, AR, Caitlin and Andy Wilkerson of Sikeston, Kolebe Shanks of Sullivan, MO, Kevin and Ashley Culter of Cape Girardeau, Brittany and Tanner Chaney of Sikeston, MO, Mikayla and Camryn Mikels of Advance, MO, and also a few great nieces and nephews.
Melissa is also survived by her sisters in law, Rhonda, Kim and Cindy.
She was preceded death by her father in law, Kenneth (Lou) Moore and her mother in law, Patricia Henry Riley.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Tony Allen will officiate.
A graveside service will follow at the Dogwood Cemetery with John McHaffie officiating.
Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
Pallbearers will be Ian Mikels, Scott Culter, Jake Mikels, Kolebe Shanks, Eric Vines and Eric Watkins.
