Melvin F. Wright, Jr. passed away on June 19, 2025, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born on October 19, 1945, to Melvin Forbes Wright, Sr. and Edith Everett Wright in Elizabeth City, NC. Mel is survived by his loving wife, Jo Wright; sister, Ann Bundy; nieces and nephew, Melanie Michael (Greg), Clay Harris (Lisa), and Allison Hope (Jeff); great-nieces and nephew, Kesleigh Crews (Avery), Samantha Harris, and Scott Hope; and his four-legged companion, Willard. A celebration of Mel's life will be held in the Fall; details and memorials are to be announced. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com

Mel was my moot court partner in law school, fraternity brother, friend for more than 50 years, and what every lawyer should be. We were also couple friends and Jo is also the greatest. Both always kept me laughing. My wife, Robin and I send our warmest wishes and thoughts to Jo and all the family.
