Michael J. Murphy 87 of West Orange and formerly of Point Pleasant Beach, passed away on March 23, 2025. He was born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx. He later retired to Point Pleasant Beah N. J. Michael was the son of the late Dennis and Margaret Murphy.
Michael was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School, Fordham University and received a MBA from Farleigh Dickinson University. Michael received an Honorable Discharge from the US Army. He spent his career in the private sector and in public service. He retired as a manager with 20 years of service from the City of New York. He was a very proud American-Irishman. He was a member of the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick and an officer of the Kerrymen P&B Association. Michael was involved in politics and held several leadership positions in his 25 years of high level involvement. Michael loved life and could be seen socializing with family and friends at Point Pleasant Beach and Jupiter, Florida. Michael was pre-deceased by his brothers Timothy and Brandan Murphy,sister-in-law Anne Brophy Murphy and nephew Timmy Murphy. He also leaves numerous relatives behind.
The funeral will be held Tuesday April 1, 2025 a 9:00 AM from S W Brown & Son Funeral Home (www.swbrownandson.com, 267 Centre St. Nutley. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00AM at Our Lady of the Lake Church 32 Lakeside Avenue, Verona. Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Monday March 31,2025 from 3:00PM – 7:00PM Interment will follow the Mass at St Anne Cemetery, wall Township N. J. Donations to Our lady of the Lake, Verona rather than flowers are suggested
