Patricia L. Meyer, 87, of Sarasota, formerly Wheaton, passed away June 27, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Gordon W. Meyer; loving mother of Donna (Cameron) Bettin, Michael Meyer, Laura (the late Michael) Dorsey, Dave (Carissa) Meyer, and Kathy (Kirk) Samples; proud grandmother of Keith (Shannon) Aimone, Heather (fiancé Andrew Porth) Aimone, Jill (Mike) Kerr, Scott (Lea) Aimone, Tania Dorsey, Veronica (Chris) O'Connor, Michael (Margaux) Dorsey, Jamie (Shane) Koehring, Kaity (Zachary) Clem, Megan (Michael) Flores, Courtney (Grant) Carlson, Analise (Spencer) Samples, Zachary (fiancé Grace) Samples, Jeffrey Samples, William Samples and great-grandmother of 24. She was preceded in death by her parents Ellen and Elmer Donnelly, brother Donald Donnelly and son in law Donald Aimone.
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Pat was a devoted wife, loving mother of five, and extraordinary grandmother and great-grandmother to 39 (and counting), passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's, surrounded by love and care. She grew up in Chicago, where she proudly cheered for her beloved Cubs. She later moved to Wheaton, graduating from Wheaton Community High School in 1956. It was there she met and married her high school sweetheart, Gordon Meyer.
Pat was a strong woman with a fierce heart and an open home. She dedicated her life to caring for others, most especially her ever-growing family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her home was a place of laughter, music, games, and unconditional love - always open to friends, neighbors, and anyone in need of a warm meal or a kind word. She had a joy for life and a gift for bringing people together. Pat loved playing the piano, dancing, singing, and playing cards. In her younger years, she found freedom and adventure on horseback - a spirit she carried with her always. We are deeply grateful to the compassionate nurses and staff at Tabor Hills Healthcare, as well as Angels Grace Hospice, for the attentive and loving care they gave Pat in her final days. Pat touched countless lives with her kindness, generosity, and joyful spirit. She was a beautiful soul who will be missed deeply and remembered always.
