Phillip Hale Thompson, 91, of Norwood passed away on Sunday morning, March 30, 2025 at his home.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Norwood. Rev. Todd McSwain will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Norview Gardens.
Phillip was born on May 24, 1933 in Stanly County to the late Tyler Fleet and Nolie Ross Thompson. He retired from NCDOT as a heavy equipment operator. Phillip also served in the United States Army. He was a member of Norwood First Baptist Church. Phillip loved the community of Norwood, and the people who lived there.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty "Dee" Thompson, and his brothers: Tyler Thompson, Victor Thompson, and Ashley Thompson.
He is survived by his daughters: Melinda Kimrey (Kim), Joy Page (Barry), four grandchildren: Mika Parish (Jon), Morgan Cancel (John), Lee Kimrey (Courtney) and Philip Kimrey (Ancha), and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tillery Compassionate Care, 960 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001
